South Okanagan Mother's Day celebrations filling up fast - Penticton News - Castanet.net

"Four seasons of fun" is a collaboration between Castanet and Travel Penticton showcasing what Penticton has to offer all year round. Watch for it every Monday morning.

Mother’s Day is a mere six days away, and while some Mom-themed celebrations are booking up quickly, there’s still time to plan a special outing with your family in the South Okanagan.

Naramata’s Neverland Tea Cottage recently re-opened after its winter break and is already fully-booked for its whimsical high tea experiences on some days next weekend, but there are some seatings – scheduled for 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. – still available on Friday and Monday.

But if you miss out on reserving a table, you’re in luck.

“Our takeout towers have been a wonderful success,” says co-owner Renee Iaci.

“In our beautiful area you can take out a tower of treats and tea, and take Mom somewhere new to enjoy.”

The towers reflect Neverland’s high tea, with a selection of savoury and sweet bites. New spring teas plus some classics such as Irish Breakfast and Jasmine have been added to their roster of teas, and local ingredients from locally grown lavender, Upper Bench cheese, and both small and large bottles of La Petite Abeille Cider are available.

“We’re so happy to be here at this time of year to celebrate outside with high tea!” Renee adds.

If an outdoor adventure is on the menu for Mom, Hoodoo Adventures has a Mother’s Day option that will take you to the great outdoors.

Until May 8, book the special Mother’s Day Kayak Brunch Tour and enjoy a 20 per cent discount, and celebrate out on the water.

The tour includes two hours on a kayak, a locally-prepared breakfast, and a flower for Mom. You’ll take a peaceful paddle along the shores of Okanagan Lake before stopping at a quiet beach for brunch prepared by The Bench Market.

The regular Kayak Brunch Tour is available until October if you wish to take mom out for a paddle later in the season.

For those looking for an indoor option, the Penticton Lakeside Resort is planning on bringing the outdoors into their Grand East Ballroom overlooking Okanagan Lake.

“We’re hosting an elegant garden party brunch and invite everyone to dress up, come to the garden party and enjoy the outdoors, but inside,” says the resort’s Andrea Rose.

“There will be market style buffet with different stations, farmers’ market style.”

The resort is creating a huge floral wall that will be perfect for taking pictures, and they are also inviting their Mother’s Day brunch guests to send in a favourite photo in advance for a celebratory photo wall.

Reservations can be made by calling the resort and you can ask for instructions to send in your best ‘mom’ pictures.

“The décor will be fun, and there will be just about anything you could imagine in a buffet,” says Andrea.

Inside or outside, at a table or getting comfy for an Okanagan picnic taking in the spring scenery, reserve your Mother’s Day experience soon before brunch is completely booked.
