Only a couple of hundred tickets remain for the April 18 Yates Centre performance by country superstar Johnny Reid.
Promoter Ron Sakamoto on Tuesday said the third show on Reid’s five-month cross-country tour is selling fast. Tickets for the show are $105 apiece.
A whopping 85 per cent of Reid’s dates have sold out since tickets went on sale less than a month ago, Sakamoto said. Those sell-outs include all 11 in Newfoundland where Reid isn’t scheduled to perform until June.
Reid has more than 100 dates booked on the tour and Sakamoto expects another 20 to be added. The tour is hitting venues of 1,000 seats or less so Reid can perform more intimate shows for fans in communities which might otherwise not get a chance to see him.
“It’s phenomenal, I’ve never seen anything like it,” said Sakamoto. “We’re doing it the right way,” he said of staging shows in small halls which won’t be affected by capacity limits faced by larger ones.
The tour starts Feb. 9 in London, Ont. and is scheduled – so far – to end on July 24 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Besides Lethbridge, other Alberta dates include March 23-24 at the Dow Centennial Centre Shell Theatre, March 23-24 in Fort Saskatchewan, March 25-26 at Keyano Theatre in Fort McMurray, March 28-29 at the Jeanne and Peter Lougheed Centre in Camrose, April 3-4 at the Vic Juba Theatre in Lloydminster, April 5-6 at the Arden Theatre in St. Albert, April 12-13 at the Esplanade Theatre in Medicine Hat, April 19 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary, April 20 at the Memorial Centre in Red Deer and April 25-26 at the Douglas J. Cardinal Performing Arts Centre in Grande Prairie.
Reid is also scheduled to play May 18-19 at the Key City Theatre in Cranbrook.
All fans over the age of 12 will have to be fully vaccinated to attend with no negative COVID tests being accepted.
