WHY WATCH
Streakers versus Slumpers. Adam Fox versus Quinn Hughes. The Rangers have won six of their last seven games and are 5-1-0 on the road. They’ve also bought into new demanding coach Gerard Gallant and rank fourth with just 2.11 goals allowed per outing. The Canucks have the 27th-rated offence, Elias Pettersson is struggling with only one goal and 24 shots and his club has yet to win on home ice. Fox and Hughes are intriguing and gifted puck-moving defencemen who sport superior edge work and high hockey IQ.

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE OPPOSITION
Kreider’s goal glut: Chris Kreider scored the game-winner Sunday in Seattle and his seven goals were two short of Alex Ovechkin’s league-leading total of nine. Kreider had a career high 28 goals in 2018-19 and this nine-game start was one short of Rich Nash’s team-record eight goals over nine in 2014-15.
Fox on the run: Adam Fox leads all blue-liners in points since 2020-21 with 56 (7-49), nine better than Quinn Hughes who has 47 points (5-42). With nine points (2-7) through nine games, Fox equalled the franchise mark set by Michael Del Zotto in 2009-10 with three goals and six assists.
Shesterkin is super: Igor Shesterkin made 31 saves in a 3-1 triumph in Seattle to steal another win, his seventh start in nine games. His 1.70 goals-against average and .947 save percentage through seven starts are only bettered by Frederik Andersen (1.29 GAA., .956) of Carolina.
