An alert neighbor on Harmony Road in Belleville’s Thurlow ward stopped what could have been a serious house fire Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters from stations 3 and 4 responded to a residence on Harmony Road around 4 o’clock.
However as it turned out a neighbor who was a firefighters got into the garage where the flames were located and doused the flames with a garden hose.
That was fortunate as the garage had flammable materials inside. About $15,000. damage was done. No one was injured.
It’s believed the fire started because of damaged wiring likely caused by pests.
