Vegan fast-food chain coming to Uptown Waterloo - KitchenerToday.com

Waterloo is getting something brand new and different this summer.

On Thursday, Globally Local Technologies Inc. announced it will open a Globally Local location in the Uptown this summer. The company is one of the world's first vegan fast-food chains.

The new 1,021 square foot store will go in at 75 King Street South (corner of Willis Way and Caroline Street).

"We've been to events in Waterloo and there's a huge appetite here for indulgent fast food that comes at a far lower cost to the environment, animals, our bodies, and our wallets," James McInnes, Globally Local co-founder and CEO, said in a news release. "We aim to bring the community an experience that is superior to old-school animal-based fast food in every way, from taste to nutrition to efficiency."

Some of Globally Local's bestsellers include Wingalings, their Famous Burger, and their Maple Crunch Breakfast Sandwich.

The company also makes its own proprietary plant-based proteins and dairy alternatives.

Globally Local opened its first location in London, Ontario in 2016. It currently has two locations, plus plans to add seven more in the province. It's expected the new Waterloo location will lead to the creation of 10 to 15 jobs.
